The Wrong Corpse is a possession, an interlope, a misattribution, an alibi, a middleman, a solecism, a diversion, an iconoclast. This exhibition brings together three artists who cast a critical, yet equally celebratory, light over the coming apart of identity under political, psychological, and social pressures. Their negotiations take the form of: an audio tour of an artistic utopia already lost; a dance between the possessed and their domestic accessories; and a gaudy collection of trophies recast as a narrative device. Through video, performance, and installation – Olivier Choinière, Julie Favreau, and Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf, conjure, revive, and author identities by abusing the cultural designs that can delimit our character.
