Rosa Barba’s Outwardly from Earth’s Centre (2007) tells the story of a fictitious society founded on an unstable piece of land in danger of disappearing. Given the circumstances the population is required to take collective action to secure the survival of their society. Through reports from supposed experts the work poses as a beautiful documentary of a community under threat while delivering an abstract, if slightly absurd, study of collective struggle and vulnerability.
The evening will commence with a presentation by independent curator Catherine Dean who recently curated the exhibition The Boundary Layer for The Prairie Art Gallery in Grande Prairie, Alberta which included work by Rosa Barba amongst others.

Three Course Menu:
First course choices are:
Acorn squash soup, with nut meg cream fraiche
or
Shredded duck confit and warm mushroom salad
Second course choices are:
Pan roasted sea bream, sweet pea, cabbage, bacon, fingerling hash. Mustard vinegarette
or
Pork loin with whiskey maple baby carrots, horseradish mash, apple rosemary bacon jus
Third course choices are:
Maple pound cake sundae, walnut brittle, vanilla ice cream
or
Espresso triple chocolate brownie.
