Put Your Eye in Your Mouth is a video installation structured as a 22-minute broadcast-length documentary that explores the personalities that form a fantastic narrative of the public identity of Martin Kippenberger’s Metro-net subway entrance/sculpture in the town of Dawson City, in the Yukon Territory. Taylor conducted an extensive interview with Reinald Nohal, German art patron, part-time Yukon resident, friend of Kippenberger’s and the builder and designer of the Metro-net. Nohal’s accounts of the conceptualization and construction of the Metro-net provided the basis for Taylor’s series of dramatic re-enactments. Put Your Eye in Your Mouth’s cast of characters are based as much in reality as in imagination. The video is accompanied by a small book comprised of photographic documentation of the Metro-net and the material-debris found at the site. Taylor’s elaborate project introduces audiences to a scenario that addresses the variables involved in constructing an identity for a subject.
Toronto based Zin Taylor’s work addresses the role audience plays in constructing new meanings from the field of popular culture. His projects reflect on the cultural environment as a construction site where lateral and at times divergent narrative constructions are developed through an active and individual participation. Taylor is represented by Jessica Bradley Art + Projects in Toronto and Isabella Bortolozzi Galerie in Berlin.
This presentation is the first of a nameless, off-the-cuff and casual series organized by Pavilion Projects. It has been set in place to present medium length narrative video works for a captive audience within an amicable environment.

Mets ton oeil dans ta bouche est un film documentaire construit à partir d’un interview avec Reinald Nohal, collectionneur allemand, résidant à temps partiel au Yukon, et ami de Kippenberger. Au fil de la narration, qui présente un discours où les frontières entre fiction et réalité s’estompent peu à peu, une histoire fantastique se tisse sous nous yeux au sujet de la conceptualisation et de la construction de la station Metro-net à Dawson city. Cette vidéo est accompagnée d’un petit catalogue de photographies documentant l’oeuvre et les débris du site entourant Metro—net. Avec son projet Mets ton oeil dans ta bouche, Taylor nous offre un gros plan sur les différentes variations qui émergent de la construction subjective de son sujet.
Zin Taylor, originaire de Toronto, mène une recherche sur l’image et les conditions de leur réception, incluant aussi à sa réflexion une dimension “culture populaire”. Il conçoit des dispositifs d’exposition capables de révéler les relations de ces différents protagonistes et ainsi de pointer les conditions de la représentation et de la réception. Taylor est représenté par la galerie Jessica Bradley Art + Projects au Toronto et in Toronto and Isabella Bortolozzi Galerie au Berlin.
Cette présentation est la première d’une série innombrable, impromptue et occasionnelle d’un programme vidéo organisée par Pavilion Projects afin de présenter des oeuvres qui abordent les principaux développements artistiques des images contemporaines.
